The Department of Health (DOH), The Global Fund To Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) recently held a kick-off ceremony for the observance of World TB Day on March 24, Tuesday, at the DOH grounds in Manila.
The Head of High Impact Asia of The Global Fund, Dr. Urban Weber turned over 17 service vehicles to Health Secretary Janette Garin to help the DOH regional offices expand monitoring services and conduct intensified case finding activities for the National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP). The donation is part of the Intensifying and Mainstreaming Directly-Observed Treatment Short Course (iDOTS) Project, the third phase of The Global Fund project with PBSP.
“We want to show to our donors that every dollar, every help they give to us, we give it back in terms of dedication and participation in the eradication of TB,” Garin said. The Global Fund and PBSP are working closely with DOH in implementing initiatives to combat TB in the country.
