Typhoon Haiyan Relief and Rehabilitation updates
PBSP has ground staff on site at target areas for our relief efforts in the Samar-Leyte vicinity.
We are focusing efforts on the towns of Guiuan, Giporlos and Balangkayan which are heavily damaged and in ruins. The town of Llorente, while there is no reported casualty, is also heavily damaged. Most municipalities are 90% devastated. The Eastern Leyte areas are the adjacent municipalities of Tacloban including Tolosa, which was the site of the second landfall.
In all, a total of 483 Barangays, which had 116,270 families and over half a million people are in need of help.
PBSP will remain on top of the system of aid delivery, monitor effectiveness of intervention and be responsible to all donors with regard to fund accountability.
The cash resources we raise between Nov 11-Dec 10, 2013 will be pooled together to purchase, deliver and administer “In kind” relief items such as bottled water, rice, bread, noodles, canned goods, cereal, hygiene kits, towels, blankets, mosquito nets and tents. The funds may also be used for other needs arising after an assessment and evaluation of our efforts and the needs of these targeted communities.
The first wave of emergency response and relief assistance will be deployed within this first week.
Rehabilitation of our Central Visayan Islands will be a long process. Emergency response relief assistance is only our first level of intervention. Continued Needs Assessment and Monitoring of Impact Effectiveness will help us determine how we can move forward with Reconstruction and Rebuilding Efforts.
All Donations are acknowledged with Official Receipts and tax deductible.
