Employees and partner foundations bring joy to students in Montalban, Rizal

To give students a better chance of rising from their current situation and earning themselves a brighter future, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) had launched “Sack O’ Joy”, a fund raising project that generated thousands of bags of school supplies through the overwhelming support of PLDT employees nationwide.

In partnership with the PLDT-Smart Foundation, Inc. and Philippine Business for Social Progress, this PLDT employee-adopted effort generated more than 1,000 sacks that were distributed to the far flung elementary schools of Montalban in the province of Rizal.  These sacks consisted of much needed school supplies like notebooks, pad papers, pencils, and crayons, as well as slippers.

The modest gifts were very much appreciated by the kids, as they were all smiles when they were looking inside their Sacks O’ Joy. One parent of a student mentioned “Ang saya saya nila.” (“They are so happy with the gift.”).
