PBSP kicks off Brigada Eskwela in Cavite
The program at the Maliksi Elementary School, which started at 7 a.m., included cleaning of rooms, refurbishing of chairs, tables, chalkboards, minor repairs and also free haircut for the students.
PBSP made it successful with the help of employee-volunteers from Airlift Asia Inc., All Transport Network, Asalus Corp., Deloitte Philippines, EPSON Precision,
Jardine Lloyd Thompson Insurance Brokers, Inc., L’oreal Philippines Inc., M2.0 Communications Inc., and TSM Shipping Philippines Inc.
Several other companies supported the program through cash and in-kind donations. L’oreal Philippines offered free haircut for the students. Maliksi Elementary School is just one of the schools the PBSP has adopted for support and assistance.
During the last five years, PBSP has been consistent in assisting schools that need attention and help for improvement. “Pinipili namin ang mga schools na mas nangangailangan at isa na rito ang Maliksi Elementary School,” PBSP Director Rene Fortuno said.
The principal of Maliksi Elementary School is very thankful that their school is among those chosen to be recipient of the “Brigada Eskwela” program.
“Brigada” has a good track of accomplishments since its launch in 2003 with the support of the private sector in the Adopt-A-School Program (ASP) under Republic Act 8525. PBSP says it will be continuing the “Brigada Eskwela” in its other adopted schools in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao in preparation for the coming school year.
