Motolite-PBSP Balik Baterya to merge with Cory school desks project

As of 30 September 2011, the Balik-Baterya project has hauled at least 1,345 tons of ULABs worth an estimated P35.21 million, implemented and supported at least 46 projects, coordinated with at least 81 donor companies, reached out to 943 households, assisted 57 public schools, built and repaired 11 classrooms, fed 98 schoolchildren, trained 101 teachers, and distributed 1,931 textbooks.

From 2002 to 2007, the Cory Aquino School Desks Project provided desks and chairs to various schools from Iloilo to Basilan and Maguindanao.

With PBSP spearheading the project through Ambassador Bienvenido Tan, the school desk project was able to grant at least 23,259 school desks to around 120 public schools nationwide.

Revived in 2011, the project has targeted at least 486,303 seats for around 2,523 public elementary and high schools nationwide, mostly in the poor provinces of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

The project aims to benefit more than 5 million Filipino students who lack school desks and chairs, squatting on the floor or sitting on one-slab benches inside their makeshift classrooms.
