Students get books for Christmas
The assorted storybooks and text books given by Nestle and partners are to support the school s remedial reading program It is a timely Christmas gift for students who have to make the most out of the few educational materials before the turnover.
Teresita Elementary School serves mostly farmers children in South Cotabato Philippine Informal Reading Inventory Rhil IRI findings revealed an increasing number of frustrated readers from grades 2 to 6 At least 49.4 percent of the students were considered non readers and frustrated level readers.
The remedial reading program has been strengthened to reverse the current trend through the unified efforts of teachers in school and parents doing follow up activities for children at home.
