Central Azucarera Don Pedro launched its Kabuhayan Week in 2009 in collaboration with Roxas Foundation, Inc (RFI) with the theme, “Flourishing the Entrepreneurship and Volunteerism Spirit.”  The activity showcased the products of 20 entrepreneurs who succeeded in posting product sales worth Php137,000.  In Nasugbu, Batangas, about 100 children took part in RFI’s six-month supplemental feeding program while in La Carlota, Negros Occidental and Nasugbu, public school children were fed under the Busog Lusog, Talino tandem program of RFI and Jollibee Corporation.  Also within the year, RFI funded the Bright Minds Read program for public elementary school children in La Carlota, Pontevedra, and Silay City in Negros Occidental and Lian, Batangas.  In partnership with Children’s International, RFI donated Php1.1 million of textbooks to 70 schools in Negros Occidental and Batangas. It also continued to support elementary scholars through “Tulong Aral ng Sentral,” a program under which RHI employees subsidize the school expenses of children of rank and file workers of the company.
