In 2010, Ramcar’s Balik Baterya Program collected 521 metric tons of used lead-acid batteries (ULABS) from 60 corporate partners and donors to ensure their safe disposal and proper recycling.  Thus, more than 740 cubic meters of landfill space has been saved.  Some of the funds generated in turn are used to support Motolite-PBSP BaliK Baterya Program’s Project LEAP (Learning Enhancement Assistance Package), an educational assistance program.  To date, 47 schools have received textbooks, conducted reading camps and supplemental feeding, and trained teachers in public elementary schools using Balik Baterya funds.
