Business Advisory Program
“Helping MSMEs grow through business advising”
BAP delivers advisory services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by engaging professional experts as Volunteer Advisers. The advisory services cover four areas of business management – finance, marketing, production/operations, and organizational management.
The overall goal of BAP is to contribute to reducing poverty through the development of MSMEs that create meaningful jobs for both men and women, thus, improving the economic and social conditions of the community.
Its two-fold purpose is:
• To improve the competitiveness of MSMEs; and
• To enhance supported enterprises’ adoption of practices that promote decent work, gender fairness and environmental sustainability.
Target clients are growth-oriented and viable enterprises that could not afford the cost of consultancy services. Of particular interest to BAP are community-based and social enterprises especially those run by women, persons with disability, and those that have the potential of creating positive impact on the community and/or the sustainability of the environment.
BAP started as a partnership project of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) with funding support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The pilot phase of BAP was implemented from 2003 to March 2008.
Although the financial grant from CIDA ended, PBSP made BAP a core program and folded it into the non-credit component of the Enterprise Development Group, complementing the Small and Medium Enterprises Credit (SMEC) program.
