QuitsS: Freedom To Choose, Providing Healthy Options
Through the Quit Smoking Support Program (QuitsS), private sector is assisted in setting-up workplace-based smoking cessation program. QuitsS aims to capacitate private firms in protecting employees from the health, socio-economic and environmental consequences of tobacco use and exposure. The QuitsS workplace program include educating employees on the ill-effects of smoking, and at the same ime provides services such as treatment for nicotine addiction, and other alternative healthy options for a healthier lifestyle.
The QuitsS Program implemented by Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) launched in January 2008 and will run until December 2010 is supported by the 1st round of the Pfizer Foundation Global Health Partnership Program in South East Asia.
The program is consistent with PBSP’s, corporate citizenship mandate to develop innovative systems that will benefit workplaces. In health, PBSP has a wide range of experience in installing similar programs such as STI-HIV/AIDS in the Workplace, Avian Influenza, TB-DOTS, Reproductive Health, and Maternal and Child Health.
