PARTNERS FOR EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENT – The Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) recently turned over its initial donation of over PHP1 million worth of used lead-acid batteries (ULABs) to the Motolite-Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) Balik Baterya Program. The funds will be used to support One Meralco Foundation’s solar electrification of remote public schools in the country. In photo are: (from left) Motolite Vice President Richard Chan, Meralco Networks First Vice President and Head Ronnie Aperocho, PBSP Executive Director Rafael Lopa, and Meralco HR Senior Vice President and Head Ramon Segismundo. Now on its 10th year, the Motolite-PBSP Balik Baterya Program involves the collection of ULABs for proper recycling and production of new automotive and industrial batteries. Proceeds are used for the various donors’ corporate social responsibility projects. Meralco is a PBSP member-company.
