Hapinoy Joins Ramon Magsasay Award Foundation on Post-Haiyan Efforts Towards Building Disaster- Resilient Communities

Hapinoy participated in the Ramon Magsaysay Transformative Leadership Institute’s (RMTLI) Dialogues on Asian Solutions 2014 Series. RMTLI is an initiative of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF). The prestigious foundation, named after the late President Ramon Magsaysay, is committed to “honoring greatness of spirit in selfless service to the people of Asia”. Since its establishment, over three hundred outstanding men, women, and organizations have been presented with the Award.
RMTLI aims to bring together Magsaysay awardees, and other social innovators and stakeholders to create better solutions for Asia’s most urgent developmental challenges. This year, RMTLI’s programs focuses on Building Leadership for Disaster-Resilient Communities in an effort to address major rehabilitation challenges left by Typhoon Haiyan. Haiyan hit the Philippines in November of 2013 devastating most of the Visyas region. The RMTLI 2014 dialogue series highlighted three themes under the said umbrella topic: (1) Building Resilience through Strong Local Leadership, (2) Building Resilience through Community Health and Well-Being, and (3) Building Resilience through Community Systems for Food, Water, Health, and Livelihoods.
