Emergency mobile water filtration project

MOA signing with Dondi Alicpala (Chief of Party, Be Secure), Tony P. Tompar (Chairman, Mactan Rock), Rene Fortuno (Director, PBSP), Arlene Castillon (HR Manager, Dow Chemical), and Cyril Arradaza (President, EVAWD)

Dow Chemical, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, together with Brenntag, have provided financial and in-kind resources to build a mobile water treatment system to provide one 20 cubic meter per day of safe drinking water in case natural disaster happens in the Philippines.  Primarily, this will benefit the communities directly affected by Typhoon Yolanda in Samar and Leyte.  Eastern Visayas Association of Water Districts (EVAWD) was chosen to manage deployment of the system. It will also ensure the safe transport of the system in adherence to a set schedule of deployment. If necessary, it has committed to also provide service to its member water districts through provision/subsidy of water system operator’s salary, towing of the system to move from one area to another, and assistance in setting tariffs/business model.
