Coca-Cola Foundation help ease classrooms shortage in Mindanao
To ease the difficult situation that school children face in Mindanao, Coca-Cola Foundation built a 4 classroom, 2-storey school building (shown in photo above) in Lumbia Elementary School, Cagayan de Oro City, and another 3 classroom, 1-storey school building in San Roque Elementary School in New Corella, Davao del Norte.
The classroom buildings is funded under the Little Red Schoolhouse (LRS) project. LRS is a flagship program of Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, the social investment arm of Coca-Cola Philippines. Launched in 1997, the Little Red Schoolhouse supports the Department of Education (DepEd)’s call for private sector participation in addressing the severe classrooms shortage in public schools in the country.
Under this program, Coca-Cola Foundation in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) builds school buildings and provides basic classroom equipment and materials, as well as water systems in public schools among selected poverty-stricken communities across the Philippines.
