Ikebana International donates for rehabilitation of Cebu mangroves

Ikebana International (I.I.) is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of the Japanese art of flower arrangement.

In line with the organization’s philanthropic endeavors, Ikebana International Manila Chapter 108 through Parity Values, Inc. partnered with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), a foundation which has an ongoing mangrove conservation and rehabilitation project in Cebu.

A contribution of PhP 80,000 from  Parity Values, Inc. will be used to rehabilitate and to reforest one hectare of the mangrove area in Bantayan Island that sustained damage from Typhoon Yolanda last November 8, 2013. Mangroves serve as a nursery for different kinds of fishes and help protect the shoreline from typhoons and strong waves. The turnover was held during the “Joy in Ikebana”  exhibit at the Grand Atrium (East Wing) of the Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong last March 7, 2014.
