MANILA — Farmers from Central Luzon to Northern Mindanao are benefitting from being part of the value chain systems of the country’s largest corporations, particularly in the onions used for the burger patties of Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) and in the cassava supplies as the principal tapioca (sago) ingredient of San Miguel Foods Inc. (SMFI) – San Miguel Pure Foods.

THE REDUCTION of extreme poverty incidence in the country has remained and will always remain the heart of the matter.  With this core issue in mind, the Philippine Business for Social Progress will define its unwavering commitment to reduce widespread poverty in the country by 2015 through four of the critical Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): education, health, sustainable livelihood and enterprise development, and the environment.  Towards this end, PBSP has begun to realign its programs guided by the program descriptions as follows:

MANILA — President Benigno Aquino III is set to revisit his roots at the Philippine Business for Social Progress when he graces a gathering of the country’s top corporate leaders and chief executive officers during the PBSP 40th anniversary gala dinner at the Makati Central Business District on January 25.

MANILA — At least 96,030 landless rural workers, sustenance fisherfolks and marginal upland farmers, urban poor and indigenous people comprising of 694 cooperatives, fisherfolk and peasant groups, and urban poor associations and peoples’ organizations were sheltered for the last 20 years in a building project for livelihood and community development.
