CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE BY MANUEL V PANGILIMAN, CHAIRMAN OF PLDT AND OF THE PHILIPPINE BUSINESS FOR SOCIAL PROGRESS, AT “THE GREAT PHILIPPINE MERGER FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT” PBSP 40TH FOUNDATION DAY GALA DINNER, 25 JANUARY 2011, AT DUSIT THANI MANILA.

To His Excellency President Benigno Aquino III, to the founders who gave PBSP its original vision, to our trustees who continue to enlarge that vision, to our members and partners who provide support— thank you for joining us tonight.

We come together to honor a single powerful idea – the idea that business can do more than do business, that WE can change lives, and transform society into something more than a marketplace. This occasion should also remind us that we’re tied together in life, in this nation – that a person becomes human not as individual, but in community, that the despair of one touches us all.
